Feeling dizzy and sleepy in Ecuador

Not too much to report so far, we've only been in Ecuador for less than 24 hours. One thing I can tell you is that after spending time at sea level, travelling to a city at an altitude of 2850m in one flight makes for some interesting dizzy spells! The air is noticeably thinner here and and yesterday we were puffing and panting quite a lot just walking up the street!!

We are going to try and get out to the equator itself this afternoon, so that should be fun!!

Honeymoon - Luxury Portion

Our PT Cruiser in LA

I am writing this in an internet cafe in Quito, Ecuador in South America where we landed this afternoon after completing our 'luxury' section of our honeymoon. Here is a brief summary:

LA - 4 Days. We stayed in Venice beach and checked out Malibu and Hollywood and cruised along Mulholland drive as well as Hollywood boulevard and checked out the Chinese theatre where all the stars foot and hand prints are in concrete. We also went for a spin out to the desert to see what was there (not much!) and ended up staying in Carlsbad, south of LA between LA and San Diego.
Where are we again?

Costa Rica - 9 days. We had 3 nights in a jungle resort overlooking the Arenal Volcano. We saw lava flowing, went in hot springs and even went zip lining through the jungle (like a flying fox in a harness). Then we went down to the beach for 4 nights and did a whole lot of cocktail drinking and laying about in the sun. We did see one of the few waterfalls in the world which falls directly in to the sea which was cool.

We had our last night in Costa Rica in a fantastic hotel in San Jose with our own private fountain complete with gold fish and top notch food.

Now we are in to the back packing phase of the trip. We are going to spend a couple of nights in Quito and do some touristy things like straddling the equator (you should see the size of the black dotted line on the ground where the equator is!!! ha ha) before we head for the border and in to Colombia.
